Dwarka: The beginning of a 'Code Yellow' existence

Dwarka: On the morning of 29, December 2021, the residents of Dwarka woke up to a changed world. A world where Code Yellow restrictions have been imposed. The closed gates of DDA’s Dwarka sports complex, which is an important part of the lives of many Dwarkaites, exemplified this changed world. Many reached the Sports Complex Gates in the morning only to be told to turn back.

With the closing of the sports complex and gyms the fitness enthusiasts have now the option of staying home or visiting the many public parks in the sub-city, which thankfully, are still open to the public. Though the cold morning, the foggy surrounding and the Omicron scare dissuaded many to stay indoors, some residents still braved all of this and spent their morning in Dwarka public parks. It is now time to bring out your cycles, road running shoes or a yoga mat.

Says Mukul Kumar, a resident of Sector 11, and a tennis enthusiast. "My mornings always started with playing tennis at the Dwarka sports complex. The closing of the complex is definitely bad news for me. I am more worried about my teenage son, who also loved tennis. We will have to make sure that he does not gain wait now."

Spending time at the sports complex is an essential part of the lives of many others too. Says S.K Juneja,(63) a resident of sector 12, "I visited sports complex not just to play tennis but also to spend some quality time with my tennis friends. My early morning tennis games kept me in good spirits throughout the day. Now I will have to find some other indulgence to keep myself positively engaged."
