To celebrate Bapuji's 147th birth anniversary, the RWA of Sector 55, Noida, organised a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the sector in collaboration with the Nav Urja Yuva Manch (NUYM), a Noida-based organisation with the motto "Clean Noida Green Noida".

Dr Mahesh Sharma, Union minister of state for tourism and culture, and Noida MLA Vimla Batham also took part in the cleanliness drive, and swept the streets with brooms.

Gajendra Singh, RWA president, said, “The best way to observe this day is to clean up the sector. We want to imbibe Bapuji values — his ideals in life — into our daily routine."

Speaking to City Spidey, Batham said, "Two years back on this day, Modiji started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and now, the whole nation celebrates this day as Swachhata Diwas." She added that Noida could mirror cities such as Singapore if people embraced the idea of cleanliness.

Stressing on the need to change people's mindset, particularly the youth's, Sharma said, “Youngsters have to play a major role in the Swachhata Abhiyan. Noida will be clean if they take active interest in this."

Rajendra Srivastav, a member of NUYM, told City Spidey that the organisation's first aim was to ensure that residents get a healthy and clean life. “Cleanliness is next to godliness. We intend to clean up the whole city before Diwali,” he added.
