Bird enthusiasts and wildlife photographers have a reason to smile. The Sultanpur National Park, Gurgaon's favourite tourist destination, reopened on October 2 after remaining closed for five months.
The national park had shut its gates in May to visitors, with the onset of the breeding period for several species.
This seasonal wetland is home to about 250 species of birds — some are resident, while others migrate from as far as Europe, Siberia and Central Asia. They start arriving around September.
The park, spread over 1.42 sq km, is also home to several species of amphibians, reptiles and mammals. A large number of birdwatchers, ornithologists and wildlife photographers visit the park every year.
“My children love to come here to see the birds. W can't wait to visit the place when their school closes for autumn break, from October 8,” said Deepak Gulati, a resident of Sector 5, Gurgaon.
