'The Power of the Dog' and 'West Side Story' among big winners at Golden Globes

The Golden Globes, Hollywood's largest party recently took place, although without stars, red carpet, and no televised broadcast. This year's ceremony was a private affair that was not live-streamed. The winners were announced on the Golden Globes website and their respective social media accounts. Jeremy Strong and Ariana DeBose won big at the Golden Globes in 2022.

'The Power of the Dog' and 'West Side Story won the top film prizes at the untelevised Golden Globes. The dark Western 'The Power of the Dog,' directed by Jane Campion, became the second film directed by a woman to win Best Drama. Kodi Smit-McPhee won Best Supporting Actor and Best Director for the film.

Steven Spielberg's remake of 'West Side Story won the best comedy or musical and lead and supporting actress awards for stars Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose.

On the television side, HBO's drama 'Succession,' about a media tycoon's feuding family, led with five nominations and won three awards, including Best Television Drama, Best Actor for Jeremy Strong, and Best Actress for Sarah Snook. It was followed by 'Hacks,' which won Best Comedy and Jean Smart Best Comedy Actress.

This season, for the very first time, both the Korean drama 'Squid Game' and the French drama 'Lupin' were nominated for Best Television Series. 'Squid Game' star O Yeong Su won his first Golden Globe in the Best Supporting Actor category, despite not winning the top prize.
