Miffed by poor governance, NEFOMA puts up own assembly candidate

Greater Noida: Tired of years of complaining to improve their area and faced by a largely unresponsive administration, the residents of Greater Noida have decided to field their own candidate for the upcoming UP assembly election. The move can be seen more as a mark of protest and sort of a 'no confidence motion' against the whole government set up.

Following a January, 16, 2022 meeting the NEFOMA, a resident body, has decided to put up its  president Annu Khan as their candidate for the upcoming Dadri assembly election. The decision was taken by the NEFOMA team after the meeting where representatives from the different area housing societies participated.

A businessman and a resident of Vedanta society, Greater Noida, Annu Khan while talking to CitySpidey, said, "Every government talks about the farmers, slum areas, poor people but there is no discourse on the upliftment of the middle-class. For the last 12 years our organization has been struggling with the government and officials of the Authority but the problems of flat owners have not been resolved. Moreover, most of the promises made by the leaders were not fulfilled. Our problems have remained unaddressed. Even today lakhs of flat buyers have not received the registry papers of their flats."

He adds further, "If we win, then our priority will be to resolve the problems of residents in our area, whether it is a delay in getting the flat registry or the lack of basic facilities."

Rashmi Pandey, General Secretary of NEFOMA says, "We had high hopes from the representatives of the previous governments but they could never solve the problems of the area. We felt very helpless, especially, during the pandemic induced lockdown. With the help of residents, we made arrangements of food for the labourers, provided them oxygen and medicines but we did not get any support from the administration."

Naresh Nautiyal, a resident of Himalaya pride society says, "The time has come where the government has to understand that the homebuyers will do anything for their rights."

Azeem Khan Nirala Estate says, "There is no one to understand the problem of Homebuyers of highrise society. Local leaders are not helping us, so someone has to come forward."
