Noida Authority has planned to set up neighbourhood convenience stores in sectors 31, 45, 47, 72 and 135 of Noida. It says the plan is to soon set up at least one such store in every sector of the city.
The planning department of the Authority has begun earmarking the plots and preparing layouts for these facilities.
PK Agarwal, ACEO of Noida Authority, said residents of the chosen sectors have to travel long distances for even basic needs; convenience stores will make their lives a lot easier.
"We are in the process of releasing tenders now, and work will start in three months,” Agarwal said. “Residents can look forward to seeing these centres completed within a year.”
The proposed shopping centres will sell everything from food items, groceries and personal care products to pharmaceuticals and newspapers, along with providing a number of daily services.
All new and developing sectors, officials said, will have these convenience outlets, incorporated into the area layout right from the planning stage.
