It's hard not to get completely submerged in the season's festive cheer. And Gurgaon is not to be left behind as it melds itself into the week-long revelry, beginning from October 7 to 11. DLF Phase 5 is hosting its celebrations at Club 5 sports complex.
To keep the residents busy in the evenings, it has an array of cultural performances lined up, including skits, music shows, dance recitals and others. There will be food stall as well, with a wide spread of lip-smacking sacks and meal combos.
On the evening of October 7, on Swasti -- the first day of pujo -- there was a musical performance by Bibhendu Bhattacharya, a resident singing talent. Deenga, a Bengali folk-rock fusion band from Kolkata, belted out foot-tapping numbers, while Berhampore Kalakshetra did a traditional song-and-dance performance. There was shruti natok and a short comedy skit as well.
There's handicraft bazaar, too at the venue, selling paintings, textile products, wood work, pottery, stonework, terracotta and glass creations.
On the last day, on October 11, there will be a laser show on Ramayana. It is a part of the Green Dusshera initiative taken up by the society. The Dandiya night, to be held on October 10, has been receiving overwhelming response as well in terms of pre-registrations, as residents and their guests prepare to dance up a storm to the tunes of Garba songs.
Aakash Ohri, executive director of DLF Phase 5, said, “We have always tried to celebrate festivals with a great deal of enthusiasm -- we try and get people from across communities to participate. This year, DLF 5 Puja has been planned on a much grandeur scale. I hope all the residents enjoy.”
