Mayfair residency: Residents voice their security concern

GreNo West: On the night of January 31, 2022, an attempted theft in Mayfair residency has left the residents disturbed. The housing society is under construction. It was at around 10:30 in the night when one of the construction workers broke into a flat in a bid to steal. Fortunately, he was caught by the residents who further handed him over to the police. The victim has also filed an FIR.

The incident has left the residents feeling unsafe. They are demanding the installation of CCTV cameras, a proper boundary wall and more security to avoid any such incident from happening again.

Prateet Baijal, a resident of the society says, “Last night, a thief was caught in C-501 in our society. The thief was none other than one of the labourers working in this society. The thief broke the window glass, sneaked into the room and took the key to the car kept on the table. But fortunately, the residents got alerted and managed to catch the thief. After this, they informed the administration.”

Residents of the society shared a tweet, “इंतज़ाम नहीं है केवल एक  security guard है construction का काम किसी नक़ली NBCC नाम की कंपनी को  दे रखा है बिल्डर को पहले भी अवगत कराया जा चुका है कि लेबर सोसाइटी में  जहां-तहाँ घूमती रहती है रेंकी करती है माननीय मुख्यमंत्री  @myogiadityanath क्या यह है आप के राज में सुरक्षा.”

As per the residents, they have complained regularly about inadequate security in society earlier as well. The residents of the society have complained about the broken boundary wall of the society earlier. They shared that the pace of construction work of the boundary is too slow and the labourers have not been able to construct the wall for the last two months. The residential society has 12 residential towers, out of which, eight are under construction. About 70 families live in the other four towers of society. Pawan Pandey, another resident of the society says, “We have been regularly complaining about the issue to the builder. All labourers live in society's backyard. Only one security guard is deployed in society during the night hour. This is a major concern and the builder and authority should look into it.”
