RWA raises concern for pocket with MLA and area councilor

Dwarka: Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Adarsh Society, Sector 3, Pocket 16 have raised their concern of increased water table, waterlogging and seepage inside the pocket. Recently, a letter was written by the RWA of Adarsh Society to the area MLA mentioning the existing problem and asking for allocation of some immediate funds from the local area development scheme(MLALAD) to do the needful for the issue.

General secretary of RWA, Devesh Mundepi said, “We have been in trouble since monsoon 2021. Earlier we faced waterlogging and now we are in fear of any cavity inside the pocket as the level of the water table has increased. Water can be found a few 5 inches below the ground. This water is sewer water. We have written to MLA highlighting that our society is about 4 feet down below the ground level of Madhu Vihar. Due to this geographical condition, we are receiving a continuous flow of dirty sewer water leaking from the defective sewage system of Madhu Vihar inside our society.”

Mr Mundepi said that according to DJB officials, the sewer water leakage would not stop flowing inside his society apartment until the groundwater level of Madhu Vihar goes 5 to 6 feet down. “Now,  for an immediate solution, we need a drain constructed besides our boundary wall which will be connected to our internal drainage system as a temporary solution. With the help of this drain, we can stop the flow of dirty water flowing over our entire stretch of street besides Madhu Vihar. We have requested the MLA to kindly allocate some LAD funds for the work”, said Devesh.

As informed by the RWA, they have also met the area councillor Nitika Sharma on the subject and requested her to look into the matter. Now, the RWA is waiting for response from both of the leaders associated with the pocket.

Moreover, RWA has also shared the subject with another MLA Bhawna Gaur from the adjacent area Palam when she was on a visit near the society recently for a function. “We have also made our complaint to  Bhawna Gaur, MLA, Palam, as Madhu Vihar is under her jurisdiction. She had assigned this task to the junior engineer of District Jal Board handling Madhu Vihar for Cleaning of the Sewers, but as per him, there is no solution unless the water level of sewer drain goes down than the pocket ground level. We are in great trouble,” said Devesh.

Earlier, during the rainy season, last year, the pocket faced a massive waterlogging crisis resulting in a temporary migration of many residents from the pocket to nearby hotels or places of relatives and friends. Now, looking at the sewer seepage from the ground in the streets of the society, the residents are worried.
