GreNo West: NEFOWA demands better infrastructure in a meeting with GNIDA CEO

The population in the high rises of Greater Noida West is on an increase. However, the region is still struggling with several prevalent issues such as structural audit of the group housing projects, an underpass at Chaar Murti roundabout, the establishment of a traffic cell in the Authority office,  identification of space for Ramlila Maidan and Stadium.

NEFOWA (Noida Extension Flat Owner Welfare Association), on February 14, 2022, met with the CEO of Greater Noida Authority, Narendra Bhushan to put forth all these issues.

A recent incident in the high rise of Gurugram of roof falling has left the residents of Greater Noida frightened. Abhishek Kumar, President, NEFOWA says, “While taking cognizance of the painful accident of Gurgaon that happened a few days ago, the attention of the CEO was drawn to the problem of plaster falling and leakage in the group housing societies of the Greater Noida Authority area. We demand a structural audit in the highrise societies.

He adds, “In an order issued by the authority on August 2021, Jamia Milia's was suspended 3 months ago from the panel responsible for providing a  Structure Safety Certificate. It was discussed that the IIT (Delhi, Kanpur or Roorkee) and CBRE should be brought on the panel. But nothing has  happened in this matter so far.”

However, as per Manish Kumar, Senior Vice President NEFOWA, "The meeting with the CEO was extremely positive. Regarding the ban on structural audit and structural safety certificate of Jamia Milia, CEO Narendra Bhushan said that IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and CBRE will be brought on the panel soon by forming a committee under the leadership of ACEO Amandeep Duli"

The residents also request a traffic cell to be established in the authority office. As per residents, it is required so that the dependence on the planning and engineering department for redressal of traffic-related complaints can be shifted to this new department. It will help to resolve traffic-related issues more effectively.

Along with this, the issue of inordinate delay in publishing the tender for the proposed underpass at Char Murti was also discussed. It was also pointed out that the planning department for establishing Ramlila Maidan and Stadium has not yet identified the place.

Commenting on the development seen regarding these issues, Rahul Garg, Vice President of NEFOWA says, “In the case of the underpass, CEO Narendra Bhushan said that the survey report has been given by RITES in January 2022, on the basis of which the tender has been prepared and will be published soon. To identify the site for Ramlila ground and stadium, CEO Narendra Bhushan has asked ACEO Amandeep Duli to review the places suggested by Nefowa and submit his report.
