Ajnara Integrity dedicate area for dog feeding

The AOA of Ajnara Integrity society in Ghaziabad has started an initiative to feed the stray dogs of the society every day. Under this, they have reserved a particular area for the people who want to feed the stray dogs. The step has been taken in the hope to counter the dog menace in the society.

Ajnara Integrity has been facing serious issues related to dog menace for the last 4-5 years. Recently, a 5-year-old boy was severely attacked in the ociety. However, people of the society have sympathy towards these animals too.

Complaints were filed to Ghaziabad Development Authority but no effective measures were taken. The society's AOA decided to take charge and come up with a solution. As per AOA, if stray dogs are given ample food on a daily basis, it might affect their behaviour towards the society members and decrease their aggression towards the people.

"Hunger adds up to the aggression of any living being, whether it's a human or a stray. We have taken this decision as a measure to prevent dog bites cases in the society," says Venkatesh, secretary of Ajnara Integrity society.

"We do not wish to harm the stray dogs of the society, we just want to keep the residents safe. We provide daily food for the strays of the society and whosoever in the society residents wish to feed the dogs can come to the dog feeding area and feed them," he adds.

Rahul Garg, president of AOA of the society says, "Stray Dogs tend to stay at the places where they can find the food easily. Some residents of the used to feed them in different areas of the society like parking lots, parks, and other common areas which is why these dogs keep roaming around in these common areas and when they are hungry, they become aggressive. To prevent such instances in common areas, we have dedicated an area only to feed the stray dogs and requested the residents of the society not to feed the stray dogs outside the dog feeding area."

The area was already marked by the AOA of the society as a dedicated feeding space for dogs in September 2021. However, a hoarding board has recently been put in the area declaring it as a dedicated space for dog feeding.
