Residents of oxford square have raised concerns about the increasing sound pollution in their society. Residents are facing issues related to noise pollution caused as a result of social functions held in clubhouses.

After the pandemic, at any time, there remain guidelines for social gatherings depending on the number of Covid cases. In this situation, residents are preferring to host functions in society clubhouses. As per some residents, the clubhouse is available for birthday parties, house warming parties, engagement ceremonies and nowadays for weddings at affordable rates.

However, continuous celebrations held in the clubhouse of Oxford square society has become a nuisance for residents living here.

Dr Sunil Kumar says, “The loud music in the society is making it difficult for us to stay here. People are losing civic sense and forgetting their social responsibilities. Music playing day in and day out is getting on our nerves. As our house faces the clubhouse, we are facing additional trouble."

Residents shared that this loud music is aggravating health problems and causing sleep deprivation. On this note, Shiv Pant, resident of oxford square says, “These parties are causing trouble for many people in our society. It is causing heart troubles, anxiety and blood pressure problems. Loud music for hours is causing sleep deprivation for many residents.

This is also a matter of concern for school going children who get disturbed during online classes. Dilip Kumar, Resident of Oxford square said, “my son’s online classes are going on, and this loud music is creating lots of disturbance, from morning 10 am it is so loud that it is creating a disturbance and irritating to the core.”

Residents have also pointed out that regular parties at the clubhouse are also raising security concerns for the residents. "People coming in the function not only roam here and there, but they also drink alcohol and talk loudly inside the society premises. The same is applicable for the caterers," adds Sunil Kumar.

Shiv Pant says, "We witness an everyday scene of people drinking and smoking freely. Some outsiders also scratch the vehicles of the residents."

The affected residents demand an immediate solution to these problems and are questioning the implementation of guidelines in society.

Ajit Singh, estates(maintenance) Manager says, “To maintain decorum in the society is the responsibility of the host. We take undertaking from the residents who book the clubhouse for parties. In this undertaking, we have specifically highlighted that loud music and Dj is not allowed. Despite this, people violate the rules. However, next time we find a host violating this rule, we will handle the matter accordingly and ask the host to stop the party immediately."

Cityspidey also reached out to asked Firoz Khan, beat officer, Noida Extension. He says, “The districts of Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar are among the top five places in Uttar Pradesh from where a maximum number of calls were made to 112 helplines, complaining about noise pollution. Residents can seek help from police on the helpline if such noise is causing health problems or affecting children's education."

Residents also informed that a meeting is to be held between the residents, RWA and maintenance manager regarding this problem on February 20, 2022.
