DDA organises 'Azaadi Darshan' with a sand art workshop

DDA is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of India's independence through a series of events - themed around 'Rejuvenation of River Yamuna floodplains'. The organization planned several nature-oriented activities along the floodplains of River Yamuna every weekend from 19th February 2022 to 6th March 2022. The aim of the celebrations is to revive the holy river's connection with its people and spread awareness about its significance which has faded away over the years

DDA celebrated its inaugural event Azadi darshan, a sand art workshop on 19th February as part of 'Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence. This first-of-its-kind event-cum-workshop, held in the capital city, was organized at Kalindi Aviral, one of the DDA's Yamuna project sites, under the guidance of renowned sand artist Mr. Manas Kumar Sahoo. Mr. Sahoo has elevated India's sand art and carved a name for himself and the country globally. Over 250 participants of all age groups enthusiastically took part in the workshop, making sand art and sculptures.

The team of students and teachers from Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya and Aaghaaz-e-taleem, an NGO as well as several volunteers, took part in the workshop and created beautiful sand art pieces on themes of independence, heritage, environment, art and science. The event was graced by Vice- Chairman of DDA, Sh. Manish Gupta as the event's chief guest. Besides boosting everyone's morale, he presented participation certificates to all the students, participants.
