Noida Authority has made plans to stop commercial activities such as paying guest accommodations and guest houses in residential sectors across the city. This step has been taken following numerous complaints received by the Authority from those living in residential sectors.

In its first step, the Authority will conduct a survey and then issue notices to those involved to stop. Ignoring the notice will attract a penalty from the Authority. The fine amount is yet to be finalised. If commercial activity continues even after this, Authority officials will annul the property's lease deed. The survey work is slated to start by the first week of November.

PK Aggarwal, CEO of Noida Authority, told City Spidey that he had received numerous complaints from residents saying they faced a lot of problems due to commercial activity near their residences.

Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA) has welcomed Noida Authority's move. Its secretary, AN Dhawan, told City Spidey that this had been their longstanding demand and that the Authority had finally got its act together to take tough action against such people.

Almost all sectors of the city face this problem. Things, however, are particularly bad in Sector 27. RWA secretary Rajiv Garg said, "Noida is an educational hub and youngsters coming here to study or work opt for paying guest accommodations. But there needs to be an alternative plan for their accommodation so they don't face a problem staying in the city."

Gajendra Singh, president of Sector 55, which is also faced with the issue, told City Spidey that problems arose mainly because of the ruckus youngsters created at night. "There isn't a single government-owned hostel for students and youth. This forces them to stay either in paying guest accommodations or guest houses," he added.
