Noida: Residents raise the issue of air pollution in Noida

The residents of Noida took to social media to raise the issue of air pollution in sectors like 61, 63, 70, 71, 56, 57, 59 and among others. On this subject, Rajiva Singh, a resident and president of NOFAA shared a tweet.

“@dmgbnagar We have air pollution issues for surrounding areas of  Sec60 where the industries release unpleasant gaseous odor on a  regular basis.Surrounding sectors are 61, 63,70,71, 56,57,59. Wind  directions deciding factors.Request solution pls. @UPPCBLKO  @CPCB_OFFICIAL @CeoNoida.”

Rajiva Singh says, “The area around Sec 60 is very polluted. This is where the industries release unpleasant gaseous odor on a regular basis. Neighboring sectors like 61, 62, 63, 70, 71, 56, 57 and 59 are also affected by this. Wind directions play a key deciding factors for the spread of this polluted air on a daily basis. Quick remedial actions needed.”

He adds, “Noida has unfortunately been very infamous for such reasons. The primary reasons for pollution in Noida have been construction dust, vehicle emissions, burning of waste, industries, stubble burning etc. Increase in residential societies, primarily due to huge influx of migratory population of job seekers, has resulted in the need for building strong measures so that industries and residents can coexist. The control measures need to be very stringent and effective.”

A senior citizen and a resident of Noida, Pushkar Raj Chandna (70) says, “In Noida, there is less public transportation due to which, residents choose to with their own vehicle. Number of cars on the roads are increasing and roads are choked during peak hours. Commuters do not turn off the engine of their vehicle on red lights. In Noida and Ghaziabad, many industries are not using green fuel.”
