Consortium of Societies (COG), Ghaziabad, an association of resident bodies of the city, is set to hold three mega voter ID camps in the Trans Hindon Area (THA) this weekend.

The camps will be held on October 22 and October 23 at Ashiana Upvan in Ahinsa Khand 2, Indirapuram, and near the Sector 5 market in Vaishali. The venue for the camp in Vasundhara is yet to be finalised. But representatives of COG said the camp would be organised either in Sector 1 or Sector 2.

COG, in coordination with the district administration, has already held one such camp at Vaibhav Park in Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, on October 16.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sharat Jha, president of COG, said that the consortium had been holding camps in individual societies of THA for residents. “Over a period of 15-20 days, COG, in coordination with the district administration, has collected more than 20,000 voter registration forms from THA. These mega camps are mainly being held for the convenience of residents who have not been able to submit their forms at camps held in their societies,” he said.

"The October 16 camp was a huge success, with more than 3,000 residents turning up with their documents," Jha added. The voter registration process will be open till October 30.

Subhash Yadav, a tehsildar, or a tax inspector, in Ghaziabad administration supervising the camps, told City Spidey that the mega voter ID camp received an overwhelming response from Indirapuram residents.

Here are some important points to keep in mind while filling out the electoral forms:

  • Residents enrolling as first-time voters can fill up and submit Form 6 along with date-of-birth proof.
  • Residents will have to fill out Section IV of Form 6 as a declaration of citizenship and address, and also to ensure that there is no duplication of the resident's name in the electoral rolls.
  • Residents who have shifted within the same legislative constituency need to fill up Form 8A for transposition of entry in the electoral roll.
