Senior Citizens Association, Dwarka, a registered body of residents that caters to the welfare of the elderly, celebrated its 7th annual function recently at CCRT Auditorium, Sector 7, Dwarka. More than 500 members of the association were present on the occasion.

The annual general body meeting (AGM) was also held during the event. Members of the association and a team from Sahitya Kala Parishad, the cultural wing of the Delhi government, also staged song and dance performances as part of the cultural programmes.

A brief of the work related to senior citizens of Dwarka was given. Ravi Jaitley, general secretary of the association and a resident of Harsukh Apartments, Sector 7, said, “We have been working for Dwarka's senior citizens. We organise health check-up camps for them, provide legal help to them and look after those who are alone. We also organise different activities for their entertainment. Through our association, we try to make them feel they are part of a larger family.”

A souvenir was also released by the association. Rajesh Gahlot, former MLA, Matiala, chaired the function and released the souvenir along with other dignitaries.

JR Gupta, president of the Confederation of Senior Citizens Association, Delhi; BS Yadav, president of Senior Citizen Association, Dwarka; Colonel AK Anand, vice-president; Ravi Jaitley, general secretary; Cicily Kdudian, president of Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get-Together (ANHLGT); and Shashi Tomar, councillor of Ward 135, were also present during the release of the souvenir.
