Dwarka boycotts Chinese products this Diwali

This Diwali, residents, RWAs and social groups from across Dwarka have decided to boycott Chinese products.

"We have put up a notice to raise awareness against Chinese products," said SS Chowhan and Anupam Yashovardhan, president and general secretary of Radhika Apartments respectively. "We are also planning to carry a procession from here to Ashirvad Chowk to raise awareness."

China's open stand to support Pakistan after the recent Uri attacks has caused such campaigns to spread across the country like wildfire.

"This has become the talk of the town," said Advocate KS Bhati, president of Federation of RWAs and Ganpati Apartments managing committee. "We are not happy with China's approach and shunning Chinese products this Diwali is an obvious outcome. Even Mahatma Gandhi inspired the country to boycott the English goods during our freedom struggle. Ganpati Apartments are a part of the campaign too."

WhatsApp groups and inboxes are deluged with messages supporting the campaign.

"All residents in my society support the boycott," said Sanjeev Goyal, an RTI activist and general secretary of Dwarka Forum who lives in Shivam Apartments.

Sudha Sinha, general secretary of Confederation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies, Dwarka, said, “It is good to see all Dwarka societies unite against a common cause. It will definitely impact the sale of Chinese goods and get the message across."
