Residents of Kirti Apartments, a society in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension, kicked off this year's Diwali celebrations with a touching gesture on October 23. Ram Gopal, the senior-most employee of the society's RWA office, was asked to inaugurate the festivities by lighting a lamp.

“Our society will turn 25 in March, and Ram Gopal has been with us since the beginning," said Tuteja. "We decided to salute his service with the society."

The society also paid homage to the Indian army with a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem.

The most popular act at the event was the Garba performance by a group of women residents. Not to be left behind, kids also put up an energetic dance performance. A variety of éarly bird' games and tambola also kept everyone busy.

"The event was a hit thanks to the hard work of the organising team," said Ravi Agrawal, a member of Kirti cultural group. "We will celebrate every Diwali with the same vigour and enthusiasm."
