Noida: Orane Kids School, Noida, is organizing the second season of The Super Special Chef, a unique online cooking contest for individuals with special needs. This contest will be held pan India and is open to all differently-abled individuals.
This is the second season of the contest. The first season saw over 100 entries and was widely appreciated by parents and professionals across the country.
According to Sonia Jaitly, Director of Orane Kids School, “The purpose of this contest is to spot and nurture talent amongst the differently-abled community. Besides being a fun activity, cooking is also a part of essential life skills that many of these children and young adults need, to be independent in their future lives.”
To enter the contest, students need to register themselves according to age group and for the qualifying round, each participant would have to record and send a video of their culinary endeavours by April 25, 2022. The videos will then be submitted to the school. Six shortlisted participants will then compete live (online platform) in front of a panel of judges, where the winners will be chosen based on Execution, Appearance, and Independence.
According to the Principal of Orane Kids School, Simmi Vasu, “At Orane, we endeavour to host events and activities like this contest to bring out the skills of the differently-abled in the forefront and to give them a much-needed platform to showcase their skills.”
What is Autism?
Autism is a lifelong neurological condition that manifests during early childhood, irrespective of gender, race, or socioeconomic status. Currently, approximately 23 of every 10,000 children in India have Autism. Autism is characterized by its unique social interactions, non-standard ways of learning, keen interests in specific subjects, inclination to routines, challenges in typical communications, and particular ways of processing sensory information.
Orane Kids Special School, in Noida, under the aegis UKS, is a registered NGO that provides affordable, specialized education to learners with autism spectrum disorder, between the ages of 3 and 45. The school handles intellectual and developmental conditions such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome
The school provides services like special education, assessments, counselling, behaviour therapy, etc, to children in the age group of 0-16yrs. The school also runs a residential centre for special kids. Currently, Orane Kids School has 25 children who are enrolled on various classes.
