Dwarka's new police station is an eco-friendly marvel

Dwarka's Sector 17C got a brand-new police station on February 19. This is great news for residents and police officials alike. Even better, the six-storey building was constructed in line with "green" concepts incorporating energy-saving features.

The 11,500-sqm complex, inaugurated by Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi, boasts several eco-friendly features such as rainwater harvesting, solid waste management and solar-energy panels.

No wonder then that residents and representatives of various Dwarka RWAs were excited about the station. "We are proud to have such a smart building as our police station. It is also closer for residents than the earlier station at Sector 16,” says SS Chowhan, President of Radhika Apartments, RWA Sector 14.

The building also has quarters for police officials, a floor dedicated to the crime branch and provisions for police training. It can also accommodate visiting officials for brief stays.

Senior Delhi Police officers such as Special CP (Crime) Taj Hassan, Special CP Vimla Mehra, Joint CP Dependra Pathak and DCP RA Sanjeev were also present at the inaugural ceremony. With Sector 17C showing the way, we hope more police stations in Delhi NCR embrace this green initiative.
