GreNo: Residents protest over hike in maintenance fee and lack of facilities

Greater Noida: The residents of Fusion Homes, a group housing society in Greater Noida West, staged a protest against the builder on April 24, 2022. Residents alleged that the society lacks basic facilities even after they are paying hiked maintenance charges.

Residents shared that the maintenance charge was Rs 1.80 with GST. However, on March 29, 2022, the builder sent a letter to the residents and raised the maintenance charges to Rs 2.60, which was applicable from April 1, 2022. Residents alleged that the builder did not share any notice with the residents before raising the prices.

According to the residents, even after increasing the maintenance charges, the society still lacks several basic amenities and builder is not paying heed to their requests. Residents say that the prevalent issues of the society include seepage from the pillars and lack of safety in the  society. They also complain that gate number 2 and 3 of the society are not operational and there is also the issue of lack of sanitation in the society.

The society has 12 towers and about 800 residents live in the society. Kunal Kaushik, a resident of the society says, “We have been paying the maintenance charges to the builder. However, we are deprived of basic facilities. We also sent a mail to the builder but he did not respond to us. There is so much pending work in the society but if the builder doesn't do the needful, we will protest in front of the DM office.”

Nishikant Jha, another resident of the society says, “Without any consideration, builder has increase the maintenance charges. The gate 2 and 3 are not operational, and anyone can enter from these gates which is a big threat to the residents. Only one garbage collector collects the garbage of three towers. The staff is less and the maintenance charges are so high. How is it acceptable?”

Another resident, Alok Kumar Tiwari says, “My family are deprived of the basic facility for the last one and half years. There are lots of cracks in my flat. I have complained about the same wit the maintenance staff but no action has been taken so far. Society has lots of safety and security issues. We are ready to pay new maintenance charges, but we need services.”
