Keeping in view Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Tau Devi Lal Stadium on November 1 to address a gathering on Haryana Day, Gurgaon has been provided a tight ring of security. The event, scheduled to take place at 4.30 pm, will mark the beginning of year-long golden jubilee celebrations.
Fifty years ago, Haryana became a state on this day. The district administration has declared November 1 — Haryana Day — a public holiday in Gurgaon under the Factories Act of 1948. The order is not binding on private companies. However, all factories, government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed.
The administration had earlier issued an advisory to private firms, including MNCs, requesting them to either declare the day a holiday or allow employees to work from home.
A helipad has been set up at Leisure Valley, as Modi is expected to reach Gurgaon by air. From there, he is scheduled to travel by road to the stadium.
A large part of the city will have traffic restrictions. All speed breakers on the route have been removed. A five-tier security has been put in place, with more than 5,000 personnel on duty. Additionally, police chiefs from 20 districts of Haryana have been called in to oversee arrangements.
More than 50,000 people — including 3,000 VIPs and 800 VVIPs — are expected to take part in the mega event. Besides Modi, a number of central ministers, Haryana ministers, chief ministers from other states and political leaders from across the country are expected to attend.
The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 on the route from Leisure Valley in Sector 29 to Tau Devi Lal Stadium, from October 30 to November 1. Even NH 8 might be affected while the prime minister is travelling to the stadium.
No parking will be allowed around a 100-m radius from the earmarked route, and more than five people will not be allowed to gather in an area.
