Noida: While the rain in Delhi-NCR on the morning of May 23, 2022, has provided relief to the people from the scorching heat and humidity, the morning showers also led to traffic jams across NCR. Traffic slowed down due to rain which led to waterlogged roads and fallen trees.

In many areas of Noida, there was a thunderstorm in the morning followed by heavy rain. As per the information, due to the strong storm in the NCR, trees fell on roads in several areas, resulting in traffic jams and even accidents. Residents have also complained about waterlogging in many areas. They say that because the drains were blocked due to plastic garbage, the water accumulated on roads. They have requested the authorities to keep check of regular cleaning of drains to avoid such waterlogging in future.

Sony Yadav, a resident of village Saraband, Sector 73, Noida says, “There is a lot of waterlogging in the empty plots. It leads to mosquito breeding giving birth to several diseases. No administrative officer pays attention to villages.”

In Noida, due to heavy rains, residents of Sector 51 have also complained about electricity poles falling down. Sanjeev Kumar, President of RWA Sector 51 says, “In front of E60 Sector 51, all three lines of transmission have broken down. There is a need to get this resolved immediately ,. I am sure there'll be no electricity for the whole day now."

On this complaint, Sub Divisional Officer, PVVNL, Chandradeep Singh says, “Although this region does not fall in my area but soon I will get this problem resolved".

However, apart from the fallen trees and waterlogged roads, people across NCR were also seen enjoying the weather. Ankur Shrivastava, a resident of Fusion homes, Greater Noida, says, "This is the time to have chai and pakoda and enjoy the weather."
