Supertech EcoVillage2: Kids who had fallen from shaft still surviving

Greater Noida: The story of two boys Abeek(10) and Sidharth falling from the shaft in Ecovillage 2 has shaken many residents in GreNo West. The two cousins fell from the shaft on May 24, 2022, and got several injuries. The kids are currently undergoing treatment at Kailash hospital. Over this treatment, fake news regarding one kid's death is spreading over the internet. As gathered, residents of the society, parents, and relatives of the children are aggrieved by such fake news.

Cityspidey contacted the family and neighbours and learned that both kids are surviving. We met Ashim Shrivastava, uncle of the injured children. He informed us that Abheek is doing much better, while Sidharth is in ICU.

He says, “I am in hospital since May 24 and both kids are fine. Abheek’s condition is better now and he has been shifted to the general ward. Sidharth is in ICU. The injury has given him many wounds on the head, yet there is a good chance that he will not have to undergo brain surgery."

Dr Shreekant Sharma, Neurosurgeon, Kailash hospital says, “The major problem is that there is a fracture in the spinal cord. We will operate it in 2 days and will keep him under observation for 2 more days. The wounds are deep, there is no part of the body which is not scratched or hurt."

On Tuesday evening, Abheek along with his family went to his brother Siddhartha's place. Both the children were playing cricket in the corridor of the B-6 tower of Ecovillage-2. The shaft part of the corridor was covered with cardboard. While running, Abheek's leg slipped and he started falling on the shaft side. Siddharth ran to save Abheek and he too fell into the basement below the 9th floor. Both were admitted to the Kailash Hospital in Noida Sector-71.

Ashim says that "Sidharth remembers the whole incident, he told his papa that when we fell, we tried our level best to hold any pipe or any wire but we failed in that." He informed that Abheek went near the shaft to take the ball and his posture got imbalanced, Sidharth thought to grab him, but there was a broken tile, in which his leg got stuck and both fell. As gathered, Sidharth told his parents that he held Abheek tightly while falling to protect him from injury.

Ashim further told us that there was plywood fitted in the shaft when the children fell. This plywood got broken and when it fell, it was in inclined position, which worked as a slope. This saved their life.

Both Siddharth and Abheek are students of St. Xavier's School, Greater Noida West. Siddharth is a student of 8B while Abheek is a student of 5C. The families are residents of Raxaul and Patna in Bihar.
