Foods to avoid during periods

While on periods, cravings are actually normal. However, that doesn't mean that you should always give into your cravings and have anything which is available in your fridge. It is important to pay attention to what you're eating on your periods. That carbonated drink in your fridge and that packet of chips in your pantry cancan absolutely wait. These inappropriate foods can bring you unnecessary issues during your period, ranging from sickness to nausea, therefore it's better to avoid them.

Period days are difficult for women from all walks of life, whether they are on-field duty or sitting in their cabin. And, because periods are so unpredictable, it's critical that we eat well and look for ourselves throughout this time.

Here is the list of food that you need to avoid during periods-

If you like fast food and ready-made treats, you might get cravings to eat something spicy, but you need to control your hunger pangs. You must avoid spicy and salty foods since too much salt may cause fluid retention, which can lead to discomfort.

Refined grains

Like some of the other semi-processed, refined carbs lose their nutrient benefit. They disrupt sugar levels in our body. So, rather than eating spaghetti or bread made of refined grain, switch to whole grains.

Coffee

We all like our day with a hot cup of coffee. Many of us can't even imagine waking up without a cup of coffee. However, you should try to avoid doing so throughout your period. Refrain from drinking that cup of coffee and instead focus on staying hydrated.

Foods that are high in fat

Do you want to give yourself a treat, burgers, fries, and a can of Coke to satisfy your hunger cravings during periods? High-fat foods, as tempting as they may be, should be avoided because they have a significant impact on your hormones. They promote irritation and add to period pain. As a result, it's advisable to stay away from certain meals during your period.

Alcohol

Your club parties can wait because it's not a good idea to drink alcohol while you menstruate. Dehydration from alcohol can exacerbate migraines and create nausea. It can also cause gastrointestinal issues including diarrhea and vomiting.
