Supertech Ecovillage 2: Residents take to street to protest builder negligence

Greater Noida West: On the evening of May 27, 2022, the residents of Supertech Ecovillage 2 staged a flashlight march in the society premises. From 7:30 to 8:30 pm, in the midst of a rainstorm, around more than 250 residents of the society and people from across GreNo West were a part of this protest. The protest was staged against the arbitrariness of the builder and the lack of basic amenities in the society, even after the recent tragic major accident of two boys who fell from the ninth floor in the society.

The residents of the society claim that even after regular complaints, there has been no development in the society. Lack of water, electricity and safety is still very much there.

Residents affixed the flexes and placards on the walls of the maintenance office and all over the society premises. Residents say that the incident has left them so frightened that they are worried to send their kids out to play. Still, even after such major accident, no work has been done on the open shafts in society. The shafts are still open, the lift is still malfunctioning and the drain water is accumulating in the basement. Also, there is no proper parking arrangement in the society.

Residents point out that they are demanding the Greater Noida Authority and the District Administration take action against the builder's negligence.

Jyoti Jaiswal, a member of team NEFOWA says, “Supertech Eco Village-2 has lots of problems and there is incomplete work in every tower. One can check the basement's pitiable condition, it is waterlogged. Now it will be the breeding hood of mosquitoes.  Apart from this, on regular days too, the basement is dumped with construction waste and debris and adding to all the danger are open wires.”

Kamini Mishra, a resident of Supertech Ecovillage 2 tells us, "In this society, two kids fell from the ninth floor. This accident happened only due to the negligence of the builder. There are still possibilities of such accidents here, all because the builder doesn't pay heed to our problems.”

Devesh Chahel, another resident of Supertech Ecovillage 2 says, “The situation is very disturbing here. Maintenance people only ask us for money by making different excuses. How can the builder turn a blind eye to our problems even after such a major accident?”

Omprakash Mishra, another residents of the society, while talking about the kids who fell from the ninth floor, says. “This is not the first time we are fighting for the safety of our children, we all are terrified. This can happen to anyone. I think about that family who are spending their day and night in the hospital, wishing for their kids to get better and it gives me stress. We want to make this place a safer place to live in before the kids come back, is that too much to ask for?”
