Dwarka Kala Sargam, a Dwarka-based musical organization presented a musical evening “ Geetanjali” on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Green Heavens, Sector 4, Dwarka. This organization provides a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talent. The basic purpose of conducting such programs is to bring people together on a common platform which is music.
The evening of entertainment won great acclaim and applause from the jam-packed gathering of music lovers of the city. The program was hosted by Sangeeta Malik. The program started with a melodious song by Talat Mahmood “Jalte hain jiske liye, Teri aankhon ke diye” from Sujata.
Generally, singers perform songs from golden era Hindi movies, but this time, Dwarka Kala Sangam tried to present a mix of old and new songs. The song “ Aye jaate hue lamhon...” from the 1997 movie Border and "Aaoge jab tum o saajna...from 2007 movie Jab We Met" were included in the program. Dwarka Kala Sargam also kept its promise to showcase the other forms of Indian classical music by way of including the ghazal "Wo chup rahen to mere dilke daag jalte hain."
Singers such as Karuna Srivastava, Promila Malik, R. K. Jain, Joginder Malik, Harish Mathur, Ritu Dogra, S K Azad and Deepak Malik. Two singers - Venu Gakhkhd and Meenakshi Vashishth who were nominated by the society also participated.
Soulful singing of R K Jain “Dil hoom hoom kare” and "Aaoge jab tum o saajna" by S K Azad received maximum applause from the audience. All singers gave a superb performance. The melodies from the Golden Era of Hindi Cinema took the center stage when singers traced the journey of songs by rendering hit numbers such as 'Jwaniyan ye mast mast bin piye', 'Thandi hawayen', 'Pyar diwana hota mastana hota hai', 'Baharon mera jeewan bhi sanwaro', 'Rahen na rahen hum', 'Rang dil ki dhadkan bhi lati to hogi' and duets such as 'Mahlon ne chheen liya bachpan ka pyar mera', 'Teri aankhon ke siwa dunia mein rakha kya hai', and 'Ek manzil rahi do fir pyar na kaise ho'.
