Noida: Long and frequent power cuts trouble residents of Sector 92

Noida: The residents of Sector 92, Noida are grappling with issue of long power cuts, especially whenever it rains. The poor infrastructure of the electrical transmission and distribution system not maintained very well, as per the residents, which causes such power cuts.

Manish Kumar, the RWA General Secretory, Sector 92, says, "The condition of electricity in our society is very bad and infrastructure of the electrical transmission is in dilapidated condition. The wires are open and exposed and the maintenance work is also not done well. That's why whenever any storm or rain happens, electricity cuts for a long time."

Rajeev Khattar, a resident of Sector 92, says, "The electricity infrastructure is around fifteen years old and the cables are also damaged, which leads  to power breakdown. Residents and children are at risk of electrocution. I had a meeting with the chief engineer and he assured me to resolve the issue soon, but till now, no response came from that side."

Rajeev mentions that due to the old electricity distribution boxes, shot circuits have become common and the electrical devices they use at home get damaged.

Rajeev also informs the residents have written several letters to PVNL (Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited), but no action was being taken by them.

Sushil Jain, the president of Sector 18 Market Association, says,  "Whether it's raining or it's a sunny day, the power supply goes on/off frequently. It seems like no one is bothered to maintain the supply system. There is no proper maintenance of the infrastructure, from distribution cables to feeder pillars and from feeder pillars to consumer meters. Even the distribution cables are lying in drains, and no fuses are there in the feeder pillars."

The residents also inform that most of the time, HL: Sector-92 residents are worried about the electricity maintenance issue.
