Dwarka: Youth comes together to mark World Yoga Day

More than 600 members of Delhi's student community participated in a group yoga exercise organized at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), Sector 3, on June 19, 2022, to mark World Yoga Day. The participating students, who showed an impressive enthusiasm for yoga, came from different educational institutions in Delhi.

Youths from Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Ayurved Charak Sansthan, Daulat Ram College, Janki Devi Memorial College, Satyavati College, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and other institutions came to participate in the event.

As gathered, preparations for the group yoga session were going on for the last several days. Small groups were formed online to further preparation. As a result of this, on Sunday, when the youths gathered there for yoga practice, they appeared fully trained.

Yogacharya Acharya Swati Jha enlightened everyone about the yoga protocols and informed them about various yoga asanas. The session started with a prayer and then Sadlaj or Chalan Kriya, along with relaxation exercises were performed. She informed everyone that this kriya is done especially to make the body parts flexible and provide ease in performing the various asanas.

This was followed by Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastas, Ardhachakrasana, Trikonasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana or Virasana, Ardha Ustrasana, Ustrasana, Shashankasana, Uttanamandukasana, Makarasana, Bhujangasana, and Bhramari among others. The programme ended with Shanti Path for the peace of the society and the world.

Along with the students, Vice-Chancellor Dr JP Saini and South West District Deputy Commissioner Hemant and other senior officials also practised yoga to support and encourage the participants.

JP Saini says, "Yoga day is the time for everyone to understand the importance of Yoga. Not only India but the world has accepted yoga and its importance. We all must include yoga in our lifestyle."
