CitySpidey Impact: Noida Authority initiates cleaning in Sarfabad, Sector 73

Noida: The Noida Authority has finally kickstarted the work of cleaning the drains and removing garbage from the roads of Sector 73, Sarfabaad. The authority has decided to collect the waste from door to door as well. The cleaning mission started on June 21, 2022 and will continue till sector 73 is properly cleaned.

This comes after CitySpidey did a story highlighting the issue of poor sanitation and waste management on June 18, 2022. Sonu Yadav, a resident of Sector 73 and President of the Yuva team, had narrated the sorry state of affairs prevalent in the area when it came to sanitation. He had also complained about the foul smell and the breeding of mosquitoes in sector 73.

Sonu Yadav, a resident of Sector 73 Sarfabad says, “Feeling good that the work has started after a long wait. The work is happening at a good speed and the manpower has also increased. I hope as the garbage is now getting picked from door to door, no one throws garbage on the roads. Soon health inspector will visit Sarfabad.”

The other residents of Sector 73 also reported the prevailing unsatisfactory conditions. Monu Yadav, a resident of Sector 73, complained that they keep waiting for the authority to turn up but no one reaches out to help them. He also tells us that there are lots of polythenes clogged in the drains, causing waterlogging whenever it rains.

On these complaints, we contacted the Officer on Special Duty Indu Prakash. He told us, “Sarfabad, Sector 73 is under our prime list, very soon I will deploy staff there. There are two OSD who are looking after that area, it will be cleaned.”

After several complaints by the residents, the entire Sector 73 is getting cleaned. Labour has also been deployed for the cleaning of Sector 73 and optimise waste management.
