Noida: Rajat Vihar, Block C RWA president talks about resident issues

The RWAs are an important element of civic administration in Noida. These resident elected bodies become the interface between the residents and the civic bodies. We met Rajeev Sharma, RWA president, Rajat Vihar, Block C. On September 19, 2021, his whole panel was elected to serve as RWA in sector 62.

Here are excerpts from our conversation-

Q1. What are the dominant issues in your housing society?

There are certain things we want the Noida Authority to take action on. A proper park in the green belt has been our long standing demand from the Authority. The swings are already there but the ground is Kucha here. We need proper soft gym tiles so that the look of the kid's park is enhanced and kids do not get injured if they fall. Similarly, benches have been installed for old people but because of the lack of proper flooring and greenery, the park is not of much use. On the same ground, we have a yoga corner where more than 20 residents perform yoga in the morning. We use carpets right now but the installation of tiles is needed.

Apart from this, the building's maintenance is barely being done. The plaster is falling which could harm the residents. The main drain adjacent to the boundary wall of the C block is open, broken in some places and emits a nauseous smell. People are using this area as a urinal. Action should be taken or a urinal should be made here.

Moreover, we are facing the issue of unauthorized parking at the main entrance road for C-block. They often indulge in illegal activities such like drinking which makes the society's residents feel unsafe.

We also expect proper arrangement for a one-floor building so that a library in the upper part and two shops at the ground can be made for the residents.

Q2. What is your vision for your housing society?

Our vision for the society is to make Rajat Vihar, Block C a happy and secure place, and improve the living standard of the society. We want every resident to have a sense of belonging and be comfortable here. We make sure to hear every problem and resolve them. For this, we hold weekly meetings in the RWA office.

Q3. Things to be done by the RWA in the coming days?

There are many good initiatives that we are planning shortly. Very soon, we are working to create a 'Neki Ki Deewar' or a wall of kindness in society. Here, residents would encouraged to donate essentials and anyone who needs them can use them.

Apart from this, we are going to reinstall the boom barrier inside the gate next to the security post. We are planning to install new convex mirrors so that entry and exit can be easier for society people. One smart pole, which is equipped to identify vehicles, will also be installed soon at the main gate which will be used to capture the movement at the gate. This smart pole will tighten the security of the society. We are also discussing installing Radio Frequency Identification Tag RFID on this pole soon.
