Apna Enclave, Gurugram: More cars than parking slots

As the number of cars in the society grows, the RWA struggles to manage parking space.

Apna Enclave, Gurugram: More cars than parking slots

Are you a resident of Apna Enclave, a society on Railway Road in Gurugram, and are planning to buy a car? If yes, then think twice. Insufficient parking space in the society has become a major hassle for residents.

The 144-flat society is one of the oldest in the city. Its residents have 186 cars and 125 two-wheelers. There are, however, only 120 parking slots. Residents have also alleged that RWA members are not taking any steps to resolve the issue.

RK Sain, a resident who owns three flats and six four-wheelers, said, “I have a tough time finding parking space. Even though the RWA, with the help of security guards, are trying to deal with the problem, lack of space is a major hassle. We hope something is done about this soon.”

When City Spidey spoke to Shailesh Sharma, president of the RWA, he said that when the society had been built, there had been space allotted only for two-wheeler parking. “With the passage of time, as living standards improved, people started buying and relying more on four-wheelers. Now the situation is that most of them have more cars than two-wheelers. Some of them even have SUVs,” Sharma added.

“Accommodating all the vehicles inside the society is a challenge, but we are somehow managing. We have asked a firm to give us a good parking plan. They’ve already shared some ideas with us and we will implement the best plan after discussing it with residents,” Sharma said.
