Delhi: As the daily weather becomes hotter and more humid, Delhiites are desperately waiting for monsoon showers. But it seems the rain is still a few days away from Delhi. The maximum temperature rise is expected to reach 40 degrees celsius on July 8, 2022. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drizzle and a cloudy sky throughout the day.
As per the latest updates from IMD, moderate rainfall is expected over the weekend. The maximum temperature is expected to drop to 33 degrees Celsius by Sunday. The highest humidity recorded over the previous 24 hours was 83 per cent. For Delhi, precipitation is still expected from July 11 to July 14, 2022.
IMD has predicted widespread rainfall on July 9 and July 10 over Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Western Uttar Pradesh. However, going by recent predictions, there is growing uncertainty about rains in Delhi at least.
After the June 30th showers, Safdarjung recorded only very small amounts of rainfall, 0.1 mm and 0.6 mm on two separate days this week. The IMD had predicted rainfall on Wednesday, June 6, 2022, and even issued an orange alert for the day. But no rainfall took place on Wednesday. The weather body had also stated that there will be moderate rainfall on Thursday, June 7, 2022, as well. But the Safdarjung weather observatory saw no rain in the 24 hours till 8.30 am on Friday.
According to the IMD’s extended-range forecast issued on Thursday, a low-pressure area over South Pakistan is likely to move westwards in the next 24 hours. The monsoon trough, a feature of the monsoon that extends from Pakistan to the Bay of Bengal, is active and south of its normal position, according to the forecast. The southward movement of the trough results in an active monsoon over parts of India, going by IMD.
