Dwarka: There is good news for metro users, especially from Dwarka as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to launch e-auto services soon. As gathered, the services will first start from Sector 9, Dwarka. It would be the first of its type e-auto service in Delhi. Around 50 such vehicles are to be launched from Dwarka Sector-9 metro station in the first week of August 2022, as told by Vikas Kumar, MD, DMRC during a recent press conference.

According to metro officials, the initiative has been made to provide a smoother and easier last-mile connectivity to the daily commuters. According to DMRC officials, the e-autos would replace the existing metro feeder bus service. As said by Vikas Kumar, MD, DMRC, the initiative would serve the city initially with 50 autos, which would later be increased up to 136 autos.

As gathered, besides 136 e-autos planned for Dwarka, there would be 663 e-autos rolled out in different areas of Delhi later. For the e-autos, charging points and other arrangements are being made at the metro stations.

In an interaction with the media, Vikas Kumar said that metro feeder buses are less viable and underutilised, hence such e-autos would replace them to provide a better mode of transport for last-mile connectivity.

The residents of Dwarka are happy with this initiative by the DMRC. They have welcomed the initiative and expressed their feelings. Ramesh Kumar Mumukshu, a regular metro user from Sector 16B Dwarka said, “Last mile connectivity has been an issue here in the sub-city. I am happy that DMRC is taking such an initiative. I hope it would get successful.”

President of Federation of RWAs Sector 9, KS Bhati said, “We welcome the move of DMRC. I am happy that it is going to be started from my sector.”
