Van Mahotsav in Dwarka

Van Mahotsav programme-2022 was initiated by DDA Horticulture Division Dwarka at District Park, sector 19 B on July 19, 2022. Community people from various sectors participated in the event and planted saplings of different varieties. A total of 125 saplings of Ficus, Champa and Tacoma were planted.

On the occasion, the Ex-Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, a team of All Dwarka Resident Federation(ADRF) and the Horticulture staff of DDA was present. Moreover, RWA members from sector 19B and other societies, and morning walkers from the community were also present.

Deputy Director of DDA Horticulture, Dwarka, SK Meena informs that a target of approx 45000 (trees and shrubs) has been fixed by DDA in Dwarka. He says, “We will achieve this target in this monsoon season. The main aim of this plantation initiative is to tackle air pollution by making  Dwarka greener and cleaner.”

Meena informed that several such plant programmes would be organised with the community people and schools kids in the area in various parks and green areas.

Aman Bhandari a member of ADRF who was present in the plantation programme says, “It is good to see the community coming together for the environment. Such plantations not only increase greenery but also bring the community closer.”
