Dwarka: The heavy spells of rain on July 20, 2022, brought a tough time for the residents of Sector 8, Block D as the entire block got waterlogged. Ground floor parking areas, drawing rooms and lifts were inundated. As gathered, people were busy pumping out the water from their homes till late in the night.
Treasurer of sector 8, block D RWA, Amit Kumar shared some photographs showing the seriousness of the condition. He says, “The waterlogging started at 2 pm. Power was out here the whole day. Last year, at least the water used to go down after two or three hours but this time, it remained stagnant and did not clear until late evening. Various basement parkings on the ground floors were submerged.”
Vice president of RWA, Prabhdeep Kaur says that such waterlogging is the failure of planning and execution of drainage system in the area on the part of civic authorities. “Water comes here after the rainwater is released from the airport area. Our area is low-lying and hence the problem becomes bigger."
Prabhdeep says that discussions are going on with the civic bodies on the subject but the residents still await an effective and permanent solution.
