Noida: Heavy rains inundates Rajat Vihar, Sector-62 with problems

Noida: While the rainfall on July 20, 2022 brought much-needed relief from the hot and humid weather for the residents of Noida, it also led to several issues such as waterlogging and overflowing drains. The residents of Rajat Vihar in Sector 62, Noida had to deal with water entering their homes as the drain in their sector started overflowing. It also led to a foul smell at the society's entry gate.

Rajeev Sharma, President of RWA Rajat Vihar C-Block Sector-62 Noida says that the drains are adjacent to the main entry gate of the society and the backside of the neighbourhood. He also says these drains are uncovered and not properly cleaned.

He says, "I have often requested that the authority should cover and clean the drains but they did nothing. This time, their response is to wait for the contract for cleaning and covering the drains to materialise, and only then they will work for that."

The residents complain that their homes are submerged around one foot in the water, making it difficult for people to even enter their homes. They also say that it is difficult for people to enter through the society's gate. It is causing problems for office goers and school children.

Dinesh Singh, society's General Secretary, says, "Whenever it rains, the entire drain overflows, and an unpleasant odour lingers for more than two days. The  house helps refuses to come. Over 1500 people residing in around 368 flats are facing problem due to this. "

Ashok Gupta, another resident of the same society, says, "We are compelled to live in such poor conditions, and because of the authority's negligence, our electronic equipment are also harmed. The drains are clogged with plastic, and the pathway through which water flows is blocked, this leads to overflowing."

Residents of the society request the Authority to take this issue into account and work towards a solution as the monsoon is in full swing.
