Hard Cash Day 15: Even gods refuse to accept banned notes in Noida!

Sai Karuna Dham Mandir in Sector 61, and the shops inside it, are accepting only valid notes. This came after the temple committee realised it could be a way of getting rid of a portion of one's black money.

The scrapped notes won't do for the temples either.

Temples in Noida are no longer accepting donations in the old 500- and 1,000-rupee notes. Sai Karuna Dham Mandir in Sector 61 isn't. Even shops inside the temple that sell various puja-related items, including prasad, are not taking the defunct notes.

SC Saxena, a resident of Sector 50, told City Spidey that he wasn't surprised to see a notice at the temple that read: "Don't put in notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 in the donation box." Even the shopkeepers won't relent.

According to the priest of the Sai temple, lots of people were donating the scrapped notes. The temple committee was worried that this could be a way of getting rid of a portion of an individual's black money.

RK Sharma, a member of the temple committee, said he put up notices at various places after he heard that people were trying to get rid of their black money through hefty temple donations.
