As the Delhiites had only begun to feel that Covid was receding, cases have once again increased. According to information released by the health department of the Delhi government on August 1, 2022, the capital has registered 822 new cases in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate has increased to 11.41 per cent, the highest in the previous six months.
Two deaths were recorded in the national capital on July 31, 2022, due to Covid. Now, the total number of active cases is 4274. The number of Covid containment zones stands at 169.
With flouting of Covid norms becoming more and regular, the condition may be alarming. Cases of Covid have steadily increased during the past week. The city saw more than 1,000 cases for five consecutive days between July 26 to July 31, 2022. It had logged 1,891 cases on June 26, according to official data.
On July 31, 2022, Delhi reported 1,263 Covid-19 cases, with a 9.35 per cent positive rate. The last time the same positivity rate was recorded at 11.79 was on January 24.
