CitySpidey Impact: Noida authority conducts cleanliness drive near Vedvan park

Noida: On August 2, 2022, Noida Authority came into action and initiated a drive to clean the green cover near the under-construction Vedvan Park, which connects sectors 78 and 79.

Four days ago, on July 31, 2022, CitySpidey reported the issue of the vacant green area being converted into a dump yard. The area had turned into a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes. Residents were raising that this was a potential health risk for them. Further, they alleged that this was due to a lack of barricading.

Area residents are happy with this development and hope the Authority also takes initiatives s that this does not happen again. Ranjan Samantaray, a resident of Antariksa Golfview-2, says, "The area was vacant and green. Various vehicles used to dump waste from restaurants and construction debris from building sites were also dumped there at night. We are happy that Noida Authority took action and cleaned the area. However, surveillance would be needed in future so that it does not happen again."

Brajesh Sharma, another resident from Antariksh Golf View-2 says, " It's very common to see insects breeding in the garbage during monsoon season, posing a health threat to us and our children. Although the Authority cleaned it yesterday and also promised to barricade in that area, I would suggest the Authority penalise the people found dumping garbage carelessly so that it does not happen again."

While most residents are happy with the initiative, O.P. Sagar, another resident of Antariksh Golf View-2 shares an alternate view. He says, "There are two entrances in the empty green cover, and the authorities must block both of them to prevent vehicles from using them as dumping grounds for trash. Last night, a vehicle entered that area from the second route and again dumped trash. Still, there are four or five garbage heaps on the property. The authorities should take strict action against those found dumping garbage."

On this, CitySpidey tried to contact the health inspector of the Noida Authority but we could not reach out to him. We will update the story once we receive his comments.
