A security guard in Sarvottam Shree, an under-construction residential society in Indirapuram, was found dead by construction workers around 5 am on November 26.

The workers then informed police personnel at the police station in Vasundhara. The police identified the man as Ram Madhav Thakur (47), a resident of Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh.

Thakur was on night duty on November 25, from 8 pm to 8 am. Other security guards at the site said Thakur did not belong to Soldier Security Services (SSS), the agency employed by Sarvottam Group for the project.

"The guard was employed by a third-party construction company called Modern Constructions Ltd, which was hired by Sarvottam group," said a security supervisor of SSS.

Updesh Kumar, chowki in-charge, Niti Khand, Indirapuram, said, "He had injury marks on the head and the face, and it seems he quarrelled with someone last night.”

Another police official added that the reason behind the death was not known, but they were considering the possibility of a drunken brawl. The whereabouts of the culprit were unknown to the police.

The body has been sent for post mortem and an investigation is under way.
