The current Covid situation in Delhi is alarming. The positivity rate jumped to 19.20 per cent on August 16, 2022. 917 new cases and 3 deaths were recorded in 24 hours as per the health advisory issued by the Health department of the Delhi government.

During the launch of ‘Mission to Make India No 1’ at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, Delhi L-G VK Saxena appealed to people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and urged everyone to get the precautionary dose against the coronavirus.

“It is essential that we realize that the pandemic is far from over. I appeal to all to strictly adhere to Covid Appropriate Behaviour. We cannot afford to let our guards down," he said.

The current increase has brought the total Covid cases to 1986739. Here, 563 are admitted to hospitals while 5387 are under home isolation. 326 containment zones have been identified. Before August 15, 2022, the capital witnessed 2000 plus cases for 12 consecutive days.

Delhi in the first 10 days of August recorded 19, 760 Covid cases and 40 fatalities. This raises whether the capital is under the grip of another Covid wave. Because of this, masks have been made mandatory in all public places with Rs 500 as a fine as per the order issued by ADM, South Delhi.
