Google pays tribute to Assamese singer Bhupen Hazarika with a doodle on his 96th birthday.
This doodle of Bhupen Hazarika has been made by Mumbai based artist Rituja Mali. In this doodle, Bhupen Hazarika is seen in a traditional outfit with a harmonium.
Bhupen Hazarika has been honored by the Government of India with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the country's highest honor Bharat Ratna.
Bhupen Hazarika was born on 8 September 1926 in Assam and was the eldest of his ten siblings.
Bhupen Hazarika was fond of music since childhood because of his mother. At the age of ten, Bhupen wrote a song and sang it too. At the age of twelve, he acted in the Assamese film Indramalati.
Bhupen Hazarika made great achievements in the field of art, he is considered one of the best cultural messengers of South Asia.
Apart from his native language, Bhupen Hazarika sang songs in many other Indian languages including Hindi and Bangla.
