Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi has started a new initiative for waste segregation at source in two wards- Keshavpuram and Rohini Zone. Under this initiative, dry waste will be collected on 2 days and wet waste on 5 days of the week, starting from 12 September, 2022 to 19 September, 2022.

Under the Pilot Project, MCD has formed a plan in which dry waste will be collected on Wednesday and Saturday and wet waste will be collected on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from Ward number 64, Pitampura and Ward number 75, Ashok Vihar in Keshavpuram Zone and Ward number 58 Rohini-G and Ward number 60 Rohini-I in Rohini Zone.

The initiative has been taken under Swachh Bharat Mission to provide optimal civic services to the citizens of Delhi. MCD have been robustly undertaking various IEC activities and campaigns to aware general public about ill effects of SUP, need of waste segregation and more. This pilot project on waste segregation is an effort to make waste segregation a successful practice in our daily life. Upon its successful implementation in these wards, this low cost and effective method of waste segregation will be implemented in remaining wards of these zones.
