Dwarka: Among the many individuals who have made the sub-city of Dwarka their homes, there lives a green backed heron too. A resident bird of the sector 23 lake, this green backed heron is not a bird that catches much attention. It does not have a colorful and eye-catching plumage nor does it have a beautiful song to sing. Its routine movements are also not much to talk about as it is usually seen rooted to a spot and waiting for its meal to appear, all the while well camouflaged. But sometimes it takes to wings. That that is when it presents a wing span and a flight that is worth a good look. Not many of us are lucky to catch a pond heron in flight but those who do are left impressed. Jai Prabhan, a fellow Dwarka resident and an avid bird photographer, witnessed the sight and made sure to capture it. Here we share it with you for your viewing pleasure.
