Hassled and tense senior citizens of Jal Vayu Vihar, a residential society spread across sectors 21 and 25 in Noida, had a reason to smile on December 3. Jal Vayu Vihar Community Centre (JVCC) organised a seminar for them on financial investment to help them deal with demonetisation issues.
About 150 senior citizens of the society attended the seminar by Ajay Kumar Yadav, a Noida-based financial expert, at the community centre in Sector 21.
Yadav said during the seminar that in the current situation, when fixed deposit and post office scheme interest rates were falling rapidly and being taxed higher, people were looking at less risky investments. They were doing so to beat inflation rates with a calculated risk.
He spoke about the benefits of investing in debt and liquid mutual funds, which have an indexation benefit after three years due to long-term capital gain tax of 20 per cent. He added that liquid funds were as good as fixed deposits and could be cashed within 48 to 72 hours.
