Dwarka: The Durga Puja Pandals are in the making, fairs are being set up, the stages for Ram Leela are coming up, and with the women already shopping for Dandiya nights, the festive season is here after all. Something that is being seen in the sub-city of Dwarka. After a wait of almost two years, Navratri, Dusshera and Ram Leela in Dwarka will be a grand affair this year. As of now preparations for one of the biggest Ram Leela of Dwarka, which is organised in Ram Leela Ground, Sector 11, Dwarka, are in full swing.

Ram Leela ground is almost ready to welcome the people of Dwarka for its twentieth Ram Leela. The bamboo structure for the stage is ready, with the finishing work in progress. This time, the stage of Ram Leela ground is going to be grand as it is being set up with a grand and royal background. The area will be fenced from three sides, outside which will be food stalls, rides and shopping counters. This is being done to manage the crowd and make sure that there are no interruptions on the stage. Another highlight of the mela in the Ram Leela ground will be the rides. From the giant wheel to small merry-go-rounds for kids, everything will be there.

The Ram Leela on this ground is being organized for the last 19 years by the Association of Social and Cultural events, Dwarka. Ram Leela will be organised from September 26, 2022 till Dusshera, October 5, 2022. The artists performing in the Ram Leela are mostly from Delhi. “This year, you will get to see something new and unique in this Ram Leela, which is ‘Ram Baraat’, something that has never been done before,” says Abha Gurrain, the secretary of the Association of Ramlila. She further says, “We have been waiting for this for a long time. Even the artists of the Ramlila are super excited to finally get a chance to perform again on the stage in front of a large audience.” A massive Ravan of 80 feet is also in the making in the Ram Leela ground for Dusshera. The skeleton of the effigy is ready.

Mukesh Sinha, President of the Association of Social and Cultural events says, “After two years, we are very happy to make this Ram Leela happen. There were some hitches because of which our preparations got delayed. But now, everything has been taken care of and we are positive about completing the preparations really soon”. He also tells us that there will be a Dandiya night on September 24, 2022. “We have around 1200 participants for the dandiya night with a dominating presence of women from Dwarka,” says he. A dance competition is also to be organised on September 25, 2022, for which around 40 participants have been shortlisted.
