Gurgaon: Suncity residents score a victory over builder

After repeated written complaints to various authorities from the residents of Suncity in Sector 54, Gurgaon, it has now been established that the common area maintenance fees being charged by the builder was illegal.

Deputy commissioner TL Satyaprakash wrote to the Suncity Projects chairman, Lakshmi Goyal, on the subject, and ordered the builder to convene a meeting with the RWA to sort out the matter.

Suncity RWA advisor Abhay Punia welcomed the decision and said, “The builder had withdrawn the services from June 30, 2016, but continued to send the maintenance bills, which was illegal."

Punia further added that the builder has already taken a sum of Rs 18 crore as security deposit from the residents under the head of common area maintenance fee.

VMK Singh, RWA  general secretary, said, “In the past few months, door-to-door collection of garbage and security has been the responsibility of the RWA, but the builder is misguiding the residents and continues to demand money in the name of maintenance.”
