Remembering Kishore Kumar with his memorable songs

With songs such as 'Pal Pal Dil Ke Paar' and 'Zindagi Ek Safar hai suhana', Kishore Kumar has captured the rhythm of the golden Bollywood era. An actor, comedian and proficient singer, Kishore da was a versatile genius. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest playback singers in the Hindi film industry. His yodelling and ability to sing in male and female voices brought him immense praise.

In the movie Half Ticket, for one of the songs – "Aake Seedhi Lagi Dil Pe" – the music director Salil Chowdhary had a duet in mind and wanted Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar to sing the song. However, since Lata Mangeshkar was not in town and Salil Chowdhury had to record that song before she could return, Kumar solved the problem by singing both the male and female parts of the song himself. It just turned out to be fine as he did admirably well singing both in male and female voices

One thing about him that made us proud was that the international singer Robert Kishore, looked up to the late Indian singer Kishore Kumar as his idol, and later decided to add Kumar's name to his own.

Here is a list of his evergreen songs by Kishore that you must play today, on his death anniversary-

Mere Mehboob Qayamat hogi

Haal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka

Pal Pal Dil Ke paas

Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si

Gaata Rahe mera dil

Yeh Shaam Mastani

Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se
